As an independent band, we need to write our own playbook. Too much time is wasted following an elusive algorithm. Today we officially announced that our new album, Ofensas, is now available to order as a physical-only release on vinyl, three months before it hits streaming services in its entirety. We have been releasing songs from it for over a year and are excited to share the full vision.
Why do it this way?
The standard model doesn't work well for smaller, independent projects like ours. We have to try to do things in a way that is fairer.
There are only 500 of these vinyl records and we made 200 available online.
Our goal is to sell those 200 which would cover our manufacturing cost. That would leave us with 300 to sell on the road and pay for gas, hotels, food, etc. We believe being transparent and vulnerable about art is what can build sustainable relationships between artists and supporters, not filming the next reel. Everything has its' place, but let's put real connection first.
